Greer writes faster than I can...

Howdy Partners,
Hope all are well. I'm emailing from Ko Tao - beautiful here - around 30-35+ every day - only draw back is that the water is actually too warm!! We went to go for a refreshing dip late yesterday arvo only to find it was even water IN the water than OUT of it!á Ahhh....its very tough... So... how are things??? Well, believe it or not, when I talk/chat... I can tend to go on and on and on [I know I know... hard to believe]... so I thought perhaps, the best format for my emails is to write the highlight of each day O/S thus far! Ok - so here goes...

Day 1: Finally setting off on our O/S adventure, arriving in Singapore and taking in the airport - its awesome!
Day 2: Drinks with Row in Little India, Singapore - at a really really cool bar
Day 3: Getting drenched @ Singapore Zoo & then having awesome tandoor meal @ Little India
Day 4: Fly to Manado, with Wendy & Frans [pares-in-law] drive to Tondano [Sulawesi Island, Indo] - Searching a remote village for Frans' mother's old home, finding it, and then being made to sing "Amazing Grace" at a Manadonese men's prayer group
Day 5: Easter Sunday parade where about 20 Manadonese men cross-dressed - very very funny sight [see attached]
Day 6: 'Family picnic' on eastern tip of Manado
Day 7: Going back to Manado to chill with Row for a while.
Day 8: Chartering a boat with Wendy, Frans & Row and Snorkling at Bunaken Island.[ Row & I found little bungalow to stay in]
Day 9: Spending day on Bunaken, reading in hammock, kicking back & eating awesome fish
Day 10: Snorkling off Siladen island and then spending the balmy evening having a few Bintangs & laughs with other fellow divers/snorklers over another awesome meal
Day 11: Lying on roof of fishing boat on the journey back to Sulawesi main land on a glorious morning. Flying back to Singapore & having lovely meal with Wendy & Frans.
Day 12: Flying via Bangkok to Udon Thani [Thailand] and checking into surprisingly nice [$27 - around 4 star] hotel room.
Day 13: Was feeling pretty down with a head cold so spent the day lounging in our lush room, watching crappy tv and indulging in a 2 hour massage [was soooo soooo good!!!]
Day 14: MEETING OUR SPONSOR CHILD!!! Jiarporn is beautiful and her family lovely. We went for a drive and stopped to have lunch on the Mekong River at the Thai-Laos border.á Felt really sad when we said goodbye - was so glad that I met her though. A very special day.
Day 15: Flew via Bangkok and down to Surat Thani where we organised our boat trip to Ko Tao. Spent ages chatting to the Thai man serving us - after an hour, he asked us where we are from etc. - it so happens he studied @ Hutchins in Hobart when he was younger - coinkidink! Boarded a somewhat dodgy boat at 10 that evening... bound for Ko Tao.
Day 16: Awoke @ 5h30 to the most glorious sunrise. Rested my head out the window [there was no actual glass of course] and watched the colour changes with every minute.
Day 17: Started our PADI Dive Course - finished off the night with our first Thai pancake. Aw mi gaw - fresh coconut and banana!?!? It was a seriously exciting and pleasurable experience... I don't think it will be our last... In fact, the pancake man is RIGHT OUTSIDE where we are staying!?!? Danger... danger... :D
Day 18: [TODAY] - Completed Day 2 of course and now feel comfortable breathing under water / losing my breathing apparatus etc. [this has been a big fear of mine] & am no longer freaking out about seeing sharks [having learnt that not all sharks want to eat you - I know it sounds silly... but its been freaking me out this whole time]. So - that's it to date - heading out on the boat tomoz for a proper dive [its been in the pool up until now... exciting... but good place to learn skills & gain confidence] - hoping to see a turtle and sting ray!

OKI DOKI - that's me! LuckyI was doing the brief low-down!! :D
Luurv moi!
