Ice Hockey

We had our first taste of live ice hockey last night - Vancouver Canucks vs the Calgary Flames - we scored cheap ticks and free transport to/from Whistler which was all gravy.
The lead-up to the 'puck-off' was cool with a light/music show and our first experience of the Canadian anthem - with all the screaming and wohoooing it was as exciting as waking up to a bowl of coco pops.
It was a pre-season match so apparently, it wasn't quite as fast and violent a game as usual, but it didn't matter, it was still impressive to see these guys live, fighting it out for the puck.
Almost as impressive as the security guards who approached Row and made him exit the rink due to his illegal filming activities. Of course, we didn't know that we weren't allowed to film, we assumed that the bag-check-guys who actually opened the camcorder bag to see a camcorder would have told us we weren't allowed to videotape... Anyway, upon watching the dodgy-home-vid quality of our filming, they realised that we were not, as first appeared, filming the match in order to illegaly broadcast the game to the international-underground-ice-hockey scene. So, they let us keep the footage, kindly escorted Row to guest relations where he deposited the cam until the end of the match, and then allowed Row to re-enter the building.
The game heated up as the minutes ticked by and the last 1/3rd was super close - in the end, the might of the Canucks extinguished the Flames and Vancouver fans walked away with the sweet tase of victory on their ice cold lips.
All in all it was a great night and we will definately do our best to catch more games during the upcoming season!
