Some Stats

Dad was asking me the other day some questions re the size of WB and height etc. - I didn't know so looked it up and thought I may as well post it in case anyone else was interested...

Whistler Village is 675m above sea level, 126 km from Vancouver. Whistler Blackcomb is the name of the resort where we are living and includes two mountains located side by side. E.g., we live on Blackcomb mountain but can walk out our door and ski down to the base of Whistler mountain within 3 minutes.

Tis the season to be jolly...

A couple of pics of the Christmas Season here in Whistler. The first was taken from my work desk - makes spending the day in the office that much more pleasurable. I got the next pic from the Whistler Blackcomb website - its so awesome to take a break from a run every now and then and just take in the view - absolutely stunning countryside. Have also included a pic of the Gingerbread house made by none other than Row & Greer. Look closely at the photo with the Canadian flags, the snow covered humps below are actually cars. And last but not least, I have included a portrait of Mr Snowman (built by Pete) who would cheerfully look at us night and day right outside our window for a while until he sadly melted away.

Happy Birthday 2 Me!

Yes, despite my best intentions to not let anyone know it was MY BIRTHDAY yesterday, (I'm not one to like being centre of attention...) word somehow got out that it was MY BIRTHDAY, so I figure, I may aswell capture the day on our blog. Put simply, MY BIRTHDAY was truly awesome. Fantabulous even! It started off the day before (22nd) by receiving two calls from Aus from my Pappa and my wonderful Aunt Jules & fam - so nice to here from them. I was at work at the time but had told everyone it was MY BIRTHDAY and that I may receive calls so would naturally have to take any calls that came my way.
My manager called myself and my boss into her office later in the morning - we both thought we were in trouble but after a short debrief on a "system problem" we were experiencing, balloons came bursting through the door followed by a beautiful home made cake with a big sparkler on top and all the Res Centre singing Happy Birthday to Bonnie & I! (It's Bonnie's b'day the day after mine). They had made us both a card each too and it was all very lovely jubbly....
We shut down the office early that evening (Dec 20th) as we had our Whistler Blackcomb Christmas Dinner at a beautiful hotel on Blackcomb Mountain where we all enjoyed a scrumptious dinner, some fine wine and a bop.

Have attached some pics - please excuse the poser wearing the white and green top - she is normally so shy in front of a camera....

The evening continued with some beers at Merlins where we met up with the lovely Anna & Mike. There was alot of love and a lot of smiles.
After an hour or so at Merlins, we braved the snow and strolled to Whistler Village where we had a dance at Tommy's (Again - somehow, the DJ found out it was MY BIRTHDAY) and said HAPPY BIRTHDAY GREER over the mic... he also gave me a CD and I also scored cheap entry!
We then received a text from Nichole & Richard (work mate of Row's) so we headed to Garf's where there was rock karaoke going down. Now, of course, I was very hesitant to go up on stage, but after 30 seconds of being in the pub, I summed up the courage to go on stage, tell everyone it was MY BIRTHDAY, score a free BIRTHDAY bevie and proceed to sing a song.. beautiful moment...We stayed there for a while and I had one more go of the mic and convinced Anna to join me for a beautiful rendition of Nothingman. Ahh - "Voices of Angels" is I think how we were described...
Row & I arrived home around 2:30 am and fell asleep after a fantastic night - was heaps and heaps of fun. A HUGE thanks to Row, Anna, Mike, Nic & Rich - wouldn't have been the same without you. xxx

Needless to say, the morning of the 21st was very exciting... I awoke to an abundance of birthday cards and pressies - made me feel very special. Thanks to my beautiful fam and friends who sent them to me. Mum & Dad - the jumper I'm wearing is the one I used to buy with the birthday $ - Thankyou SO much! It's so toasty!!

M Y B I R T H D A Y day was so relaxing. Row had taken the day off, so after the grand opening of pressies, Pete and Ainse joined us for a truly delicious brunch at Elements.
Row & I then hit the slopes and took a moment whilst going down a run on Whistler to "capture the moment" - the pic is taken on Whistler mountain with Blackcomb mountain in the background.
I received TONS of calls from back home filled with birthday wishes - what a lucky girl I am! Thanks to everyone who helped make my day so special - especially to you Row, you helped make my 27th birthday one of my best! xo xo xo
